Just curious, do you want them for some audio project?

They were used as the horizontal output tube in just about every TV from 1946-1950 and are commonly available from tube vendors and eBay.

There are some being made by the Russians:

I hope they don't catch on with the audiophile crowd and become outrageously expensive like certain other numbers.

Yah I hear yu about the catchen on with the audio seen and then getting expensive
I was allready warned that the people in the know are not to keen to that.

Yah I doubt that would happen here with these having the top cap and lower power.

No I'm just looking for some for a project.

Thanks for the info, now I just gotta figure out where to find these TV's.

It would seem to make a lot more sense to buy them NOS or Russian than to go looking for used ones in tv sets. The tv sets that utilized these are some of the more desirable out there so they won't be real cheap. I would think you could buy a new tube cheaper than a complete used tv, plus you end up with a new tube, not one that might be used up. As for the desirablity of these tubes for audio applications, I had a guy who is into tube audio give me a bunch of NOS 6BG6's.

How many do you need? A quick check of my junk netted one NOS GE # 6BG6GA. It's yours, just PM me an address. If you need more let me know and I'll dig deeper. Jay

Looks pretty close, though the pinout on the bottom is different beyond just the lack of a plate connection. There's also a 19GB6 with a 18.8V 300ma heater if you wanted to modify a hot chassis 25L6 based amp to become just like a 6L6 amp instead of a 6W6 amp (Tube manufacturers were not always consistant with the hXX# pattern in tube names in that a 6L6 was not the same as a 50L6 even ignoring the heater). However a 50L6 = 6W6 excepting the heater. And a 6Y6 = 50C6 (not 50C5!) except heater. A 50Y6 is a rectifier...
