It's not stereo, not cable-ready, and doesn't even have remote. And it uses too much electricity. Phooey!

But since we're collectors, UN-phooey!

That's the "special" Didn't that have a narrow band color setcion or something special like that?

Beautiful cabinet, looks as though a member, rca2000 has put in a bid on it.

Actually it's the "Super" series "Westcott" model. It used the same chassis as the "Special" series set. The chassis used color difference demodulation while the "Deluxe" CTC-5 sets used X&Z wide band demodulation.

I'm wondering...I have never seen any CTC5 that says "COLOR" at the bottom of the picture tube mask. Has anyone else? I've seen it on the 7's and later only. Any ideas?

Indian Head, If you go to Ed Reitans web site:

http://www.novia.net/~ereitan/Gallery/CTC5_Gallery.html

you will see the CTC5s did have the Color TV emblem....

Indian Head,

The RCA color emblem, the gold v with the green, red & blue inserts were first introduced on the CTC-5 models as a way of identifying these as color sets in the dealer showroom. However, I think you are referring to the word "COLOR TV" displayed on the lower mask. Some CTC-5's had the words COLOR TV as a decal displayed on the bottom center of the safety glass. The CTC-5 "Lockhaven" model, perhaps as a preview of the next generation Mark series sets, had a more prominent larger COLOR TV embedded on the mask itself. Check out my site for a picture of the Lockhaven model in the CTC-5 catalog.
