My advice is: No matter how tempted you may be, DON'T plug it in until restoration is fairly complete.

1. Join a club if there's one around you. Bulk purchasing means inexpensive caps. http://www.njarc.org/clubprograms.html#capacitorprogram. Clubs often have resistors and inexpensive, tested tubes and other parts available too. 2. Buy quantity packs from JustRadios http://www.justradios.com, or my buddy Sal Brisindi http://www.tuberadios.com/capacitors/ |

I was being facecious. You can't recap a TV set for $15-$20 no matter who you use as a capacitor vendor.
I've bought stuff from Dave before. I know who Sal is and would trust him as a vendor also but Mouser is very competitive and their shipping is quicker than anybody. Even their econo shipping only takes 2-3 days. Because of US customs (I've heard), Dave's orders take about 2 weeks. I'm sure Sal is plenty quick. I'll have to check out is prices. If it's caps that I use a lot of, then I'll purchase more to get a better discount, but sitting on 25 or 50 .002's or 80/400v's don't make much sense as I won't use that many for years, if ever. |
