It's been a long time since two men and an appliance dolly loaded up my monolithic RA-109A, but I am fairly certain that there was a focus rheostat; not a potentiometer. The components may have changed from model to model, year to year;etc

What's not to like about a working 1948 Dumont Doghouse TV?
Focus pot, 1K 25 Watt from Sulplus Sales + 5000 Ohm relay from ebay + electrolytics and capacitors = working Dumont Doghouse! Last edited by brianweber4; 10-14-2013 at 11:24 AM. |

I didn't think anyone said there was anything wrong with a doghouse , they are great , I think two of us agreed the Rumson was more attractive that's all.

I ended up getting it. Not sure about the picture tube. No shorts but not getting much emissions. It was in such nice cosmetic shape and complete (back, knobs) that I still wanted it. Here it is sitting next to my 48-1000.

Sometimes a CRT that has sat unused for a long time will "wake up" and give stronger emission after sitting on the tester for a while.

let it sit on the tester for a long time it may rise , if after a half hour to hour if it hasn't gone up you can try raising the voltage to 75 or 8 volts and see if it comes up then
