Hi Tim:

Fortunately this set had a good original finish before they painted it. Makes you wonder why they wanted to make it gold!

Thank you for the offer on the fine tuning knob but Eric H. was kind enough to send me both the fine tuning and selector knobs.

High school project? When I was about 14, I decided to make my bicycle look cool. It was a classic fat-tire Schwinn, candy apple red, a birthday present from my Dad. I removed the fenders and chain guard and threw them in the garbage, then painted it "silver" using one of my Dad's house-painting brushes and a little can of aluminum paint.

I give him credit for not busting out in tears (or pounding the daylights out of me) when he saw what I had done :-)
