That extra sprague atom cap that someone put in there has me a bit confused as to why they did it, they put in that big yellow cap (40uf) in parallel with C200B, (30UF), which did not really test bad, 37uf, a bit leaky, both C200A C200B (30uf) are in the bleeder network, 200C (10uf) is in sweep tests at 14uf.
Why did they add the extra cap?

Dead IF it seems ...
more new tubes, and time to check resistors in the IF area, most likely all the cathode resistors are bad. Have seen this over and over!

Well unless they are open, maybe, but even if they are 2-3x or more off a signal should still get through.

Looks as if someone has been there before. as the 3 39 ohm resistors have been changed, SOME of the 1ks have others not, checking come of the old ones they are testing as high as 1800.
The IF tubes are in an unknown state, no way to test, so got 4 new, (6AGS) and tuner tubes. Did try to clean tuner. Will replace weak resistors as I wait for new tubes. Focus pot decided to arc out on me, dirt in solder lugs, had to scrape it out and coat with dope.

R162 =2K R140 1.6K Still poking around. So that and old/unknown tubes prob killed sensitivity. new tubes = $24 with shipping

Another thing noticed :P The detector diode is shown backwards on the schematic, it;s anode to the 1st amp in the chassis,

This 1st amp is a bit different from what I have seen before. no direct positive power on the plate, seems to be driven from the -100 on the cathode, through the 10 ohm resistor (13 ohms OK) and up via r145 and L105. both OK. R154 goes to sync. The Det diode is odd looking , Sylvania made 1n36.but has a fiberglass body with metal end caps, looks a lot like selenium rectifiers I have seen before. but a 1n36 can't be selenium... Just have not seen one like it before as a det. not sure if it's good or bad, not sure how to test it. it's acting weird. I do have a 1n60. In the meantime, if i were to feed a 2v wave from a generator to the grid of the 1st amp, if all is working to the screen I should get some kind of pattern on the screen, if I'm correct.

you can see the diode in the upper right comer I never saw a germanium detector diode that looked like that before, weird.
