Excessive Oil Consumption on newer cars, and longer oil change intervals, and the
all too common poor quality on newer cars is most likely what helped with this
fire.... From G

The 2011 Volvo XC90, particularly with the 3.2L engine, is known for high oil
consumption due to faulty piston rings, which can cause severe engine damage
or, in rare cases, spark combustion issues. Consumed oil fouls spark plugs and
damages catalytic converters. Immediate repairs are recommended to prevent
engine failure.

Oil Consumption and Fire Risks (2011 XC90)

Engine Issues: 2011–2014 models with the 3.2L engine (and some T6 engines) are
commonly associated with excessive oil burning, often blamed on faulty piston ring
designs that fail to drain oil properly, allowing it to burn in the combustion chamber.

Safety/Fire Risk: While often causing performance loss, extreme oil consumption
and accumulation in the combustion chamber can lead to carbon buildup,
overheating, and potential fire risks.

Both G and YT are full of engines exploding from people going 10K and even 20K
miles between oil changes.

Ever seen the "just rolled in" channel on YT? Unbelievable....
