RCA Ad from March 1965...
I was going through my "to scan" box and found this old ad.
I thought it was interesting that one of the models shown (The Warburton) has a rectangular picture tube and that the ad was from March 1965. Could this be the first RCA rectangular tube set/chassis?..

Hi Hawkwind,
That's a roundie! RCA had a their first rectangular out that same year and the screen does not have the rouded sides your ad shows. |

That recatngular screen size/dimension stayed the sam etil the '72 25" came out.
They originally called thhe first rectangulars 25" but they were 23" |

I have two RCA ads that are nearly identical except one has mostly roundies and the other has mostly rectangular. Interesting how they transitioned the advertising.

The combo set at the bottom of the ad is a 25 inch rectangular, the "Warburton", maybe named after the street in Yonkers that Howard Armstrong lived on while growing up? I think the CT-100 was named in honor of Robert Merrill, the famous baritone. Sarnoff was a classical music fan and knew Bob well.
Thanks for the post Hawkwind!

That was right when James Aubrey threw Jack Benny off of CBS and he went over to NBC. Otherwise he would never have appeared in an ad for RCA!

The "Warburton" was a 1965-1966 model year set. It was among the first of RCA's 25" models. It had the CTC-17 chassis with the 25AP22 rectangular picture tube.
RCA introduced their line of 25" sets in 1965. -Steve D.

25axp22
As I recall Rca had a fairly high degree of failure on some of the early 25axp22 crts. But the set as a whole was great.
