CTC-9 for sale just down the road from me...

I put in an offer for the '9 (at least that's what I think it is).
We'll see how this goes...it would be nice to have some 50's color in the house....

Nice set, it must have a later replacement CRT though because it's got a Cataract.

Looks like I'll be getting it tomorrow. They're throwing in the box of tubes for free! I sure hope that's just a cataract, and not a "we knocked the back of the picture tube off" spot. I have a good 21FB here, would that be compatible with a '9? I'm pretty excited about having a shot at some '50's color here!

Gosh, I'd be tempted to load up the whole shebang if the price is right. Is that a gonzo Euro mult-band tabletop in one of the photos? They can be annoying to work on (lots of little components), but sound terrific when working right. Much less challenging than a color TV.

Arrive in a truck, act real friendly, convince the seller that you're a super nice guy, and he might throw in the rest of the stuff, too.

We'll see what happens....I certainly want to see what all he has to sell here. I'd really like to see what that other tv is sitting next to that roundie, too.

Well, I got it home! It is in really great shape, too. I had to remove the chassis and CRT as the thing would just not fit in my car. So, in the driving rain, I ran the whole thing the mile and a half back to my house in probably one of the heaviest downpours we've had this year.

Here it is, in pieces:
100_1860.jpg

I got the tubes, mostly pulls from other tvs, and a Heathkit color bar generator with it.

Now, we were all wondering about the other stuff this guy has. It is all still for sale, so I'll post that in the classifieds for those interested.

For those just curious about what else that was in the basement, there were really only two other items of interest. An RCA New Vista square color set, model# GH692W, and the European style radio was an RCA (was this an import that they badged?) which looks like your classic 50s european radio with the piano key controls and a stack changer turntable. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it is a floor model on spindle legs. It was a fun day, but the misery of the rain and hauling it all around just about killed me. LOTS more to report on, but for now, I'm pooped.

Good catch! I'm close enough to Lancaster to have stolen that one from you...but probably not close enough to grab the CTC-25.

This is a great way to get into the tube color business.

I have seen those RCA imports but only in table models.

Dammittall, I gots Da Vehikle-The Mighty Valdez- to carry stuff like that, but I'm ALWAYS on the wrong end of Nowhere, & have a bum knee, & a VERY penurious budget...If you take the 3rd seat out, & fold the 2nd seat up, you have nearly 9' of hauling space...Basically, a Super Duty pick-up w/a top on it...And since it is basically a Ton pick-up, you will never really load it down. I've had 20 people in it, & that just made it ride better...

Sandy- I drive a Pontiac Big, and yesterday was the first time she ever let me down. She's hauled home everything for me, from my Radiobar to all number of console radios and tvs, but she wasn't having any of that RCA cabinet business. I guess that means leaving behind any of those curbside CT-100s.

A Pontiac "Big" ?!? Jeremy Clarkson on "Top Gear" has a Mercedes "Big", never knew Pontiac made one, too...(grin) My Excursion has a wheelbase-137"-that is longer than the overall length of several cars...Actually, a Smart fits quite nicely in the area taken up by the doors...
