I have the same combo except mine has a UHF tuner included. Its a good unit. I had to replace the flyback in mine also.

The woofer mounting is interesting - sort of a front-loading air mass in those curved-tube mounts, I guess - too short and too constant-diameter to be called a horn. I wonder how it sounds? Maybe this should be posted over in Audiokarma for the speaker experts to comment on.

Speaker location: Makes my head hurt when I see tweeters pointed at the side walls!

true story:
TV chassis designer at Motorola, showing blueprint of table model: "What would it sound like if we put the speaker on the bottom?" Audio engineer (clamping hand over mouth): "It would sound like this!" (severely muffled) |

There are tweeters mounted in the front on the bottom where the weaving is also. It sounds good but not as good as RCA's larger combo's because of the small drivers. The deflectors can be removed and 10 inch drivers can be put in their place as long as their low profile ones. This is a small combo compared to most that we see. Charlie has a similar Curtis Mathis done in the same style but the radio isnt hidden in his.
