Nice RCA! 21"

This is a beauty in gorgeous condition!

I'd go for this over that overpriced Sylvania in the other thread.

They are Cat people too so you know they're OK.

That is a pretty set, I'll say 1954-5 judging by the pencil box. It looks CT-100ish in shape but it's just a different color.

Im getting sick of seeing the words "Mad Men" in every auction for anything made in the '50's or 60's....why not just put Elvis,Leave it to beaver,or Ozzie and Harriet in the title while were at it!

I agree this set is much more attractive than the Sylvania.
I hate console tvs that didn't have modernistic cabinets!

I hope I didn't sound critical of you for asking about that set, I only meant that this looks like a better deal.

Have you ever looked at craiglist? I'm visiting my parents in MN and happened to scan the local craigslist, noting that 1950s consoles are even cheaper here than back home in WA.

Here's a $25 Philco:

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/da...023554606.html

Here's a $25 something or other:

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/cs...048097082.html

Here's a $25 Sentinel:

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...088980691.html

No chassis, but for $30 here's a groov-u-licious Trans-Vue cabinet:

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...032367767.html

Free something or other tabletop (yeah, it's painted, but . . .):

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ws...047883904.html

I don't claim these are treasures, but you could haul home the whole pickup load for less than the price of the overpriced Sylvania with the electrolytic can duct-taped to the side of the chassis.

If you limit yourself to looking on eBay, you're doomed to pay eBay prices.

Just my $0.02.

Phil

That Green Philco in your last link is a factory paint job, they were green, at least on the front, not sure about the sides.

I guess you didn't read my last reply on craigslist.I check all the time using searchtempest but here in the northeast peple are greedy and they're often overpriced.Same with jukeboxes which is what I mainly collect and old radios which I collect too. I'm not gonna drive farther than say 150 miles for a b/w console.one reason I decided against the Sylvania besides the price.

And there are none at all on the Maryland eastern shore and delaware craigslist. My local area.Jukeboxes and old radios yes but nice vintage tvs very rarely.Plus my lack of being able to go to most estate sales and garage/yard sales.I work Monday -Saturday full time.I've often had to overpay for most of of my records/jukeboxes/old radios because of this.Someone snatches it up cheap at a garage sale and I come along on Sunday at the flea market and have to pay probably who knows how much more than he paid to get it or not have it at all.I only get bargains at local auctions because they're at night and I'm not working.

That RCA model is a great performer when restored. The only weak spot is it might have a metal cone CRT. 21AP4

That's a 52-T1634! I fixed one not too long ago, they make OUTSTANDING pictures when repaired. That thing had the sharpest picture I've ever seen on a B&W set, bar none.

Where is the eBay RCA? I didn't see a location.

I'd love to have that Philco...

It appears that the 16" metal cabinet table-model Philco set has a similar covering on its front surface as the console 16" has on the bezel:
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ws...047883904.html
I have seen that material before in other applications...desk blotter pads?

The RCA link appears in the first post of this thread:

It's in Fort Collins, CO

You have to click the Other Item Info link on eBay to see it.

I have a 1953 Philco with a 17BP4 in that same style cabinet, it's painted brown all over though.
