TS-14 daily driver
It's alive again! This TS-14 has been a daily driver for about three years until the horizontal started to "Christmas tree" or "skeet". It was recapped a while back and I admit I have taken it's reliability for granted recently. One of the
.001 capacitors in the horizontal AFC circuit developed a mechanical intemittant open driving the horizontal crazy. The picture is far better than the camera shows. It's dated Sept 16, 1948. I replaced all the vertical and horizontal caps years ago with 1600 volt versions to make the set stable. It comes on and plays without need of adjustment! Nice set and good story about reliable restorations. That inspires us to use good parts the first time, rather than raid our post-80s consumer electronics scrap pile.

Beautiful set. I find these Motorolas to be quite reliable. Maybe that's why so many are still around. I use my 9VT1 in regular service and have very little trouble with it. Use good quality parts. These sets are worth it.
