canon VR-HF800 vu meter is dim

LED VU meter is dim it used to be bright not that long ago
does any one know what the problem is

Actually that's a fluorescent display tube "FDT" not "LED". Probably electrolytic capacitors in the power supply failing.

Most likely the caps are failing in the power supply, but a weak STK regulator is also a possibility. I just sold a Canon VR-HF730A (almost similar to VR-HF800A) with a weak STK regulator that doesn't always stay on with display flickering.
