Someone got quite a deal for 152.50!! I watched the last several minutes of it. And with no crazy last minute bidding going on either.......someone did shore up their bid though....

Hey Mark!
Many years ago, people from Milwaukee would Travel to Winthrop Harbor to play Bingo. It was before that sort of gambling was legal in Wisconsin.
It was either at a church or a VFW hall.
PS. I sure was a great deal! Shipping was the issue there.

I followed the sale. I even contemplated "going for it". After all... another 5--THIS one a deluxe, and anther roundie!!

But...in Florida. 2000+ miles to drive....a couple of days to go for them, probably 300 or MORE for gas....and my mother needs my van right now--no car, hers got wrecked....so...as much as I HATED to do so...I passed...

Otherwise...I MIGHT have been "in on it".. But not this time...

Hope the 5 has a good tube. The one I got a few years ago did, last time I checked it.

[QUOTE=Electronic M;3051374]One Mega-Watt would be equal to 1000KW twice what even WLW (the most powerful AM station ever) put out during it's prime....

When I lived in Wien, our two AM's had their rigs in Bisamberg. The one on 585 KHz ran 600KW day, 240 KW night, while the one on 1476 KHz ran 600KW fulltime. I understand there's a 2 MW rig on 1522KHz in Saudi Arabia that can be heard around local sunset on the least coast with at least a 2KHz het on the station in Buffalo...

When I was a kid, KCST-39 in San Diego was running 4,250,000 watts visual ERP while several analog UHF's did run the FCC's old max of 5 megawatts visual ERP.

The 1 megawatt FCC max on DTV at UHF is one of the reasons ATSC doesn't work, IMHO.

True enough. But how many people on here collect old but for day to day use, watch new?

Does someone step up and get these to come forward here and share with us?

I have a feeling by the way the bidding went down they DID NOT go to a collector/restorer.

My bid is the reason it went as high as it did, someone else had a higher bid in to outbid me all the way. They were expecting to possibly pay a lot. I was the only bidder besides the first one, they'd gotten the whole lot for 50 bucks if I'd left it alone. Who knows where they had theirs set at.....I hope a collector got them, it would be a shame to see that pretty Asbury 5 get gutted.....
