I have found a UK company that sells their own converter. Not cheap at £50, but having e-mailed them I am assured they sell a GENUINE product (it's a small field-store converter) that will just about handle anything. They've sold quite a few, so they must work!

Anyway, I'll let you know my results in a few days or so.
