Here's the chassis stamp from my 48-2500, code 122 I think it says.
Since they all vary somewhat I think they may be the serial number, or at least the last 4 or 5 digits may be the serial number.

I have two 48-1001 sets I'd like to take a look at but they aren't easily accessible at the moment.
