The head can be removed fairly easily, everything unplugs.
The hardest part is unplugging the HV lead from inside the Flyback cage, you have to be real careful not to damage the Flyback by bumping into it, they are brittle at this age.

Loosen the lock bolt at the back of the collar and the head lifts right off and the wiring feeds through the hole, a two person job really to guide the wires through.
