Philco 50T-1402 vertical prob
I just lit up my 50T-1402 after a few years of rest. It is the set for my Col-R-Tel and I have the converter to attach. But first the set.
It is recapped and the CRT is strong and fed by a strong modulator from a DVD. But the vertical will not lock. It gets soooo close and occasionally catches. Adjusting only makes it roll down on either side of the lock which does seem to have a center point. It will not reverse to the rolling up side of the control. This is a quick query from the board. I am letting it cook before I do anything. And no schematic here. If you know the vert output V# that would help. I will test everything regardless.

Dave-
The Sams manual and a couple of service bulletins are available for download on the Early Television Foundation's Web site. Maybe you will find some ideas there. My quick-and-dirty guess with a control that acts that way is that one of its end connections or a related part is open, or something similar.
