source for new belts, tires etc?
Im looking at buying a Hitachi VT-64A VCR to go with 2 mid 80's Hitachi tvs i have but have run into a bit of a concern that actually seems to affect other future projects that i may do like cassette decks etc. I checked my usual place that i buy belts from which is studio sound electronics and they appear to be discontinuing sales on belts due to no more supply and decreased demand. the vcr im looking at will at least need a new tire and probably belts since the 2 or 3 other Hitachi made RCA machines from the same era needed belts as well when i got them. I have heard that most belts from ebay etc are poor quality with varying thicknesses etc. is there any place to find good belts or are they simply becoming obsolete?

If you know the sizes you need from the PRB cross reference list, one place I've had good luck is MarVac Electronics (https://marvac.com). For cassette decks, I like to use http://www.turntableneedles.com. Both are located on the West Coast.

awesome thanks! i think i will go ahead and get that vcr then and give those suppliers a shot. i think i have ordered from turntableneedles before a few years back with good service, i didnt realize they carried belts, heck they have lots types of belts! even ones for microwave ovens and film projectors. looks like their tires are new stock too.
