New tv's smelled like new tv's back in the day

As I get older some of the things I miss is the smell of burning leaves

And the smell of a brand new console tv. It rivaled that of that new car smell.

Because of the newness of the wood, new sets had an odor you knew came from firing up all those vacuum tubes and heating up the cabinet and laquer.

Can't get that nowaday in electronics

Not old enough to have been in a store with consoles, but I wonder if it is the same smell my late 50s early 60s wood Zenith table radios make in opperation....It is a very unique pleasant smell.

TV stores had a certain smell; when our local one closed I found they had an early 50's RCA sitting in a corner for novelty and I bought it (it wasn't NOS, they just grabbed it from an estate). From all those years sitting in there it still smells like that store.

Very niteresting
Can you describe that smell a little more.
I remember the smell of the old tube radios heating up when I was a kid. Caused by a very bad pollenosis I almost completely lost my sens of smell. If I want to smell old electronics I had to grind up old pcbs and snort them

It was the wooden cabinets

Just like new cars, the wood on the cabinets was new and fresh.
