Question Fisher FVH-730

Anyone have experience with this unit? I have one I've trying to bring back to life and I need the service manual. I'm kind of stuck as there is one condensed SM from Sams and one expanded one from an online source, but he wants well over 100 for it, if not more. He won't know until he goes to look at it and will determine price at that point. Not going there.

The unit has one two issues I know off the top. One, the dew light won't go out and I don't know where it is or how to troubleshoot it. Two, the transport moves, but it goes up uneven and gets stuck. All the gears seem intact and I can manually turn the drive gear and get it evened out. I'm not sure if it is a grease issue.

Beyond those two issues, I won't know what else might be wrong, if anything.

It's my stay at home project for the moment.

It's a Hitachi made deck. I don't know what the Hitachi/RCA model numbers would be, but those schematics should be easier to find.

It's actually assembled by Sanyo with, possibly, a Hitachi mechanism. I'm not sure fully, and have never seen one.

I wish I knew what the sams photofacts contained. I'll see if I can find the model numbers of the other units and see if they are the same, or at least similar enough.

I'll post some pics of the unit later today. It's a nice looking unit and seems well built.

Yeah, most of the 'Sanyo made' vcr's were just re-branded units. The VHS units from the 80's are mostly Hitachi mechs (I have a few, but not the model he asked about). However I do know that this unit uses the Hitachi/RCA idler and belt kit.
Hitachi also made units branded Blaupunkt, Grundig and who the heck knows what.

I'm hoping a little lithium grease on all the sliding surfaces of the transport will fix the ejection issue, but I really need to find the darn dew sensor.

Here are some pics. In the one with the side shot of the transport, there is some remains of factory grease, I believe. Should that entire track, and the plastic wheel, be coated with grease? It binds and I find no gears missing teeth or out of sync from left side to right side shaft.

If I should lay down the grease, where would all the appropriate places be? When I fixed the morning sickness of my Pioneer PD M60 CD player, it was easy to see as the grease used was green and it was hardening, causing the laser assembly to stick until unit warmed up enough to soften the grease. Cleaning that out and replacing with lithium worked like a charm. This unit isn't so clear as to where it should be used.
