Realistic CED-1 player
I found this a few days ago and got it and around 30 movie titles. No wide screen versions, just pan and scan titles from the day. One "Stalag 17" title actually says it is a copy of the best available print at the time. It is really a Hitachi VIP1000. 1981 or so. And also sold as Sears. The seller said it worked...if you only count lamps on the front as working. Under the hood, both belts were goo gone. I found a fix on YouTube from Databits. He showed the belts and all the tricks to move the loading mechanism and the stylus transport to get to everything and move all back to home. It works and the stylus is in good shape. No startup splash page. No pause page. It only shows video when the stylus hits a track. A/V mono out with 3/4 RF. Maybe a bit of cap reforming going on also. So much better than any RCA version I have had. Bullet proof. If you have the wired remote laying around with no home, let me know. Just a question if I should adjust the Drop Out Compensator (DOC on the board) for the few hits (white dot with a short black trail) or just let it go. Discs are very differing in quality. Now off to the NBC 1980 World Series highlight disc. I was there on the field.
