First Color Show You Ever Saw

I was very young and it was around 1965. I remember my Dad's friend showing off his new color set. It was round screen and had a color pilot light so maybe Motorola. The show had people singing and dancing around Rail Road crossing gates with the booms going up and down and the red lights flashing. Must have been on NBC. Anyone ever see this show? Love to know what show.

I saw my first color show in the fall of 1954. My uncle, who lived about a half mile down the street from the
TV station, had his B&W set get sick and had to go into the shop, which loaned him a CT-100 15 inch set.
He liked color so much he bought one. I liked the color shows so much that I asked Santa for one
of the CT-100s. Unfortunately I didn't actually get a CT-100 until 2017. That set is my avatar.

Sadly for us in Australia we had to wait until 1975 for colour broadcasting BUT the first color TV I saw was at an electronics expo in 1967.

They were showing "The Flinstones" and also had a studio with a camera and were showing patrons on monitors (a bit like the RCA setup at the World's Fair).

This would have been 525/60 and NTSC.

The first colour broadcast I saw was in October 1974 when test broadcasts began using our 625/50 PAL format. It was a golf program ...I just remember all the green!

Australia went full colour from 1 March 1975.

We didn't have a color TV at home when I was growing up. I remember walking past color TV display at Sears store and seeing Bonanza in color. When I was in USAF in 1969 they had a color set in the Barracks at Chanute AFB Illinois. It seemed everything was in color; the news, weather, sports and all nightly programs. I spent my last year in USAF in Germany with a BW set purchased from the PX. When I went to my parents house in 1973 my parents had a color TV in the living room.

I believe it was 1955 when I was 8 and Trick or Treating a few streets away from where I lived, I rang a doorbell and when the woman opened the door I saw my first color TV. I think it was a CT-100. I must have been so excited and reacted so strongly that the woman invited me in to look at it close up. I obviously was very impressed as I still remember that moment to this day. We did not get a color set at home until 10 years later in 1965.

I remember seeing the local news in color at my grandfathers probably around 1968.around 1970 ,I had a used rca ctc5 in my room.purchased for $25 of paper route money from a tv shop I was hanging around.I had heard about round picture tube color TVs and asked about them at the tv shop.next thing I know,the shop owner found a defective one,helped me fix it and I had my1 st color tv.the only household on the block that had a color tv and it was in my room!years later after trade school,I worked for a tv shop and found out it came from there!the boss remembered selling it to the shop i was hanging around at as a kid!he even remembered the name of the owner.I have since forgotten the name unfortunately. I still have that ctc5 with a good crt and flyback.gotta recap it one day. RonL

My first experience was in the early 60s. My Mom worked at a large department store in Downtown Atlanta. I would often hang out there in the summers. They had a lot of RCA models. I would guess that they were either CTC-7s or CTC-9s. The salesmen caught on quickly that I had some knowledge about color TVs and let me "play around" with them. I could usually get them better adjusted that the salesmen. I loved particularly seeing the tiny phosphor trios and how thay made the whole gamut of colors. About 2 years later, my Dad's boss invited us to see Bonanza on his new color TV, definitely a CTC-9. He was close to the transmitter, so the signal was great. My family finally got a color TV in 1966, a 25" rectangular Zenith.

I know I had seen a color TV around 1962 when we went to visit friends of my parents. I was fascinated with the red-green-blue dots that made up the screen. But I don't recall a specific show until 1967 when I went over to a friend's house to watch the last episode of The Fugitive ("A Quinn Martin Production" ☺ ). We didn't get a color TV until 1968, a Sears 19". Then we had to get a Winegard Super Colortron antenna to feed it with.

I got to this later in the game being born in 81. I have no idea what the show was but the first time I seen color TV would have been on a 1979 Sears (Sanyo) 12".
Same as this one except it's cabinet is all a dark charcoal grey. Lots of saturday morning cartoons were watched on that little TV.



I still have it stored away it needs a bunch of new Electorlytics.

It was about 1960. A saturday show about parachuters saving the day.
Was on a brand new RCA. It was my friends birthday & his father also
brought home a VERY fancy movie camera with lighting etc. They had $$$.
Next our neighbors who didnt even have the $$ for a car got a
new RCA console & I saw a lot of color TV.
Also used to see them at Sears & pestered my father for one. He told me
he was waiting for them to be perfected & " when they have a square tube & Zenith makes it I will get one". He did in 1967 to watch the Red Sox in
the world series. Thats from the kid that built the first tube radio in
town & had the 2nd B&W (Admiral 10") in town.
