MANY tnx in advance !

Hi,
Are you in the Netherlands (..visser )?
If you are from another country, we have to know where these strange voltages
were in use.
Japanese sets had 100 - 120 Volts, Spain had 125 and 220 Volts, Australia 230 - 240 (mostly).
There has to be a language given on the front and on the back of the set.
TX points to a dutch fabrication.
Philips-Sets from Sweden and Spain are german made (TD.....) at that early days of television.
Western CCIR-countries used 220 V, mostly.
Belgian sets have a 4-strandard switch in the center of the controls.

Regards,
TV-collector

Hi, thanks for your reply, I am in Italy, bought this tv about five months ago in Firenze ( Florence ), here there is 230vac mains voltage and at the time of the tv it was 220vac max....I friend of mine has a /38 model too but in its model there is a big mains trafo clearly added after ( is not a Philips style trafo...)but also has the four diodes PY82.....on the EAT cage there is a big resistor with a NTC and another big resistor is attached at the right of the chassis....connected to the four PY82 there are also two electrolitic bipolarized capacitors connected in parallel...also, I have seen a /38 model on a japanese blog and also the jap version has four PY82 on the left of the chassis and 2 near the EAT cage like mine...

BUONGIORNO!

Thanks for the good pictures.
Diodes & elythic caps were used to double the voltage before rectifiered.
This is a common practice in 100-125 Volts countries.
Means parts of South America, USA, France (parts of the county),
Spain (parts of the country) and it seems in very view local parts of Italy.

B.t.w., my vintage japanese TV sets have mostly 100 Volts/AC, only a few are able to run on 115 Volts/AC or so, too.

What about the languages?

Because of the appendix "/38" it seems to be a rare series with a very limited
production, because of the unusual voltages.

Do you know radios with the same unusual voltages? There has to be some in that same area!
Did you ask some italian radio collectors?

I have a nice collection of early italian TV sets (incl. 2 roundies), starting in 1952, they all run with 220 Volts/AC.

Check this out, please use the translate-option:

Just to bring back these sets to life, you have to paint a schematic of what you find in your set.
Its not the complete TV set (What a luck ) you have to "paint".
Your job will be simple, because it is only the power supply!

It is up to you, to run it with a special transformer you have to buy, or change
the set to the standard 220 Volts version.
But you have to decide with the historic view.

Good luck!

Hi Tv collector! BUONGIORNO ! I'm a vintage tv collector too....have more than 100 tv! Thanks for your links, very interesting.... But because I'm trying to draw the schematic it seems not TO be a voltage doubler...when the tv will be recapped and working I will be using it with a Variac so can feed it with 160 Vac....3 of the PY82 are connected in parallel....
I made an emission test for the crt with my professional crt tester and it is like new.....very strong emission....
Among my vintage tv collector friends ( on the FB group "Televisori d'epoca" that means "ancient and vintage televisions ) nobody has the same model !!! nor the schematic!.....on the chassis and on some potentiometers there is a "date code" 10-53.....October 1953...BEST REGARDS FROM iTALY....ciao dall Italia....
