Vertical rainbow lines

Hello! I have this 6 inch orion 6ad5 color tv. It works normally but some times it shows these faint vertical rainbows.

In smb3 it has them in the end of the level where its black and other parts of the game they are absent(see photos). There are some other games that have it shortly on some scenes and also when i was watching cartoons there were these rainbows at some brown parts of the image. It isnt too bad but my eyes keep looking for it (first it was the purity on red and some blue scenes and now this)

I would like to learn why they are and is it a fault or feature. I have messed around with yoke coil and adjustment rings becouse it had some purity issues when it arrived. It didnt seem to affect it much.

I have three 6 inch tv:s and this orion has these rainbows and on the takt i can see it too (not as bad as orion) and the last one i think its jericho it dosnt have them at all. Also my bigger crt:s dont show these lines at all.

Are the rainbows stationary?
Do they move if you turn the horizontal hold slightly?
If they move when turning the horizontal hold slightly, is the movement the same direction as the picture or opposite?

I didnt try to adjusting horizontal hold. This tv dosnt have many adjustments. Lines are stationary if i move the yoke side ways and the image tilts like 45 degrees but lines stay where they are.

Do you mean that the lines stay vertical and in the same position when you tilt the yoke?

Interesting. Pix #1 shows normal, no need to mess with yoke,
& rings. Pix #2 shows lines that have a "digital" look to them.
I think the TV is OK & trouble is in game or its hook up.
It was common for a bad game switch to cause diagonal line
but not perfect vert lines. SO I would try other sources & TV's
to narrow things down.

Wow, I have never seen anything like that, something that doesn't rotate with the yoke. Just grasping at straws, I wonder if there could be a bad DAG ground or an open connection to one of the CRT pins.

.

Your tv is LGBT+

Does not move with yoke turn = picture tube problem.
Anyway, pics not loading on this computer for some
reason....
magnetized , bent, shadow mask......?

What I know about digital televisions could fill 1/4 of a postage stamp, but I wonder if old tv nut is onto something. perhaps ac hum being interpreted by the DAC as periodic pulses?

@zeno i tryed this same gamemachine and other tv and there was no lines. I would like to understand what the logic is becouse they mostly appear on black screens but as you can see in the photos: other pic has it other one dosnt, both have black backgrounds...

Tube problem it definietly seems to be and nothing probably going to fix it. Good thing is that the lines appear just rarely on some screens. Maybe its coming out of closet

I can see the pictures now without taking the image address and opening it in a new tab,
so whatever you did good job.... So When you turn the yoke 45 degrees in any
direction - the faint vert. lines remain at the same 0 degrees as they appear
now....? Can you post a pic of that? I was going to suggest it is an anomaly
in the signal that that tv is susceptible to while others are not. And it may
also only be on that one level of the game... Might be something you
may need a scope to figure out.... But I really would like to see
the screen with those lines, & the yoke turned 45 degrees....
Does it get less pronounced with the brightness & or,
contrast turned down...? Could it be a over-scan
related anomaly? Or something is happening
off screen in the far edge of the scan line
from that game.... Alien messages
come to mind.....

I wonder if it's a reflection of the beam off bell of the CRT, and it coming and going could be related to a bright object at the edge of the overscan? Probably a CRT issue but if there's any way to reduce overscan (width and height control, turning down the AC power feed to the TV, etc ) and it kills the issue it could be a reflection.

Yes, i think its somekind of reflection inside crt. I think i now get the logic when this lines happen, in smb3 level goal the overscan area is blue = lines appear, inside the tube or castles overscan area is black = no lines. Also the goonies game intro screen has orange overscan area and lines appear but in game black overscan and no lines. And there was some other games too but i cant now remember.

Good thing is that they are feint, camera shows them worse than they are. Second thing its not very frequent.

Brightness and contrast have very little effect on it, if i turn brightness way up then lines and whole screen will get gray and if i turn it down then lines will dissapear when screen goes very dark.

Squirrel, i would love to post picture of the tilting the yoke but i didnt take photo of it when i was messing with it. and it was big job to get the yoke in the right place where i could adjust the purity and converges so that they are both ok. I rather not move it now. Sorry.

Seems like reflection is the answer.
