I would think it would be good if you were in bed and wanted to turn the set off without getting up....better than no remote, but kind of an entry level step up feature to introduce you to that more expensive model. We have a 27" b/w Magnavox with an air operated remote at the shop and I think it has one button for channel and another for on off volume but it doesn't seem to work right.
