1961 Zenith 16F28 23"

This is my other 61 Zenith, I fixed this one up last year, but have it apart now in order to change the power supply filter caps (I changed all the electrolytics, it doesn't really need it, but I like to change them on all the sets I watch regularly), and I'm refinishing the top of the cabinet. The finish on the sides is good, but the top is bad as it was dragged around upsidedown on asphalt at the thrift store I got it from. This one has an unusual 23" B&W tube with the glass glued on (23ANP4).

That's a real beauty!

I'll be glad when I can get one of those console B/W's!

I got to get a bigger place first.

That zenith is looking beautiful Adam. What did you use to refinish the top to match the rest? It looks like the day it was new.

Thanks. You can't really tell from the pics, but it actually doesn't match the rest of the set exactly. Originally the sides and top were a slightly lighter color than the front. Now the top is a bit darker than the sides, and lighter than the front. It is also a bit redder than both. But it is close enough for me. I just used some wood stain brushed on, then a spray can of semi-gloss clear laquer.
