It seems like when an old set turns up with a remote option, it's usually a Zenith Space Command, Magnavox or a RCA. Do any of you have or see any other brand sets other than those 3 that has the remote function ? I would like to see an old Admiral turn up in person with a remote control. I see them in old ads but have not seen one turn up in someones collection.

I have a 1964 Admiral Ad hanging in my work room and it's shows a french provincial model with a remote. I would love to have that set.

I don't ever see old color sets turn up around here pre late 70's. I bought my 1969 Sylvania from Doug and had it shipped here to TN. My set doesn't have the remote option so I just hooked one of those clickers to it that is remote control that hooks to the power cord. I change the channels with a built in tuner in my DVD player.

I used to have a '67 Admiral remote set, I nice guy up in Milwaukee bought it from me. It was cool, motor drives on the tint, color and channel, all would turn themselves when you used the remote. I freaked out a few that didn't know it had remote.

That's pretty cool. Even the old remote control clickers themselves never show up on eBay. Space Command remotes turn up all the time and sometimes a RCA, but never any other brands.

I never see old sets turn up here at all pre 1970, unless it's a b&w portable.

I would like to find a roundie in a traditional styled cabinet and it having a remote would be the icing on the cake. I doubt that will happen anytime soon or probably never.

You know all too well what happened with that deal on the 65 zenith.

Don't lose hope, you will find a set that is nice, and right for you. Just think, before 2007 I had NO roundies at all! I had color sets but not roundies. I picked up my first roundie at halloween of '07 in Overland Park, KS. It was a 1200 mile round trip. It is the set in my avatar and the only remote roundie I have. I now have 8 altogether including a '56 RCA CTC-4 "The Haviland" and a '56 RCA CTC-5 "Wingate" and also a '59 RCA CTC-9 "Annaversary Model" for '50s sets. One Admiral from '65, and the rest are Zenith. I have three fully functional Zenith sets now, the rest are slowly coming along. You might have to go a little out of your way but you'll find one. Doug has all the luck because of where he is located, Zeniths are everywhere. I can't afford the gas to go down that way every weekend so I usually miss out even though I'm sort of close. That '65 didn't go well but, it has parts that have helped several other AK members and has helped in bringing another '65 back to life for my collection. Now it's carcass sits out in the garage with a dead tube and no knobs or chassis. Keep looking my friend, the sets are out there.

Years ago I followed a huge-maybe 7'-Westinghouse BW combo. Late 50s, I think it might have even had a reel-to-reel. It was remote; the clicker was still hanging on the front. I never had a wall to store that monster. Not sure if anyone ever bought it or if it ended up in the trash.

Most all brands of color sets had remotes available... But since off-brands were often bought for economy reasons, the remote would be skipped. I guess if you could afford the additional $100 or so for remote, you could afford a major brand TV. Just as with cars; very few '60s & '70s Chevys had power windows even though they were available. Nearly all Buicks, Oldsmobiles, and Cadillacs have had power windows since the 60s.
