Wow ! Neat-looking old TV ! I'd guess early to mid 1950s. Does it work? Probly worth saving. -Sandy G.

Was that TV made for the Japanese domestic market or for export to the USA? If it says "100VAC" it was for their domestic market. Some of their TV channel frequencies don't match up with American channels. Don't know if their sound carrier is the same as the USA's (4.5MHz FM).

Cool set!

If the set's in Japan you would think it was made for Japan, however the writing on the front is in English but the writing on the antenna terminals looks like it's in Japanese?

In any case it's really nice looking chassis, it has that anodized look of most Japanese electronics from the era.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but for some reason there's a fair amount of English signage and labels in Japan. Plus that set was built while the US forces were still had a very large presence there.

To this day, many products in Japan have English written on the labels.

They are just crazy for strange un-Japanese stuff over there (it seems).

Case in point..

Pokemon..

A Japanified way to say "Pocket Monsters". At least that was what I heard on the internet... and we all know that if it's on the internet, it's true!

Some Romanian early tv sets like National, Grigorescu,
Luchian used "National Panasonic" electronic tubes; the picture tubes where provided by Telefunken. Don't forget than Romania was a Communist country.

By the way, "MATSUSITA Electric Co. LTD"="National"="National Panasonic"= "Panasonic".
