Saved a Zenith 24Mc32 a few days back.
While heading to a call for a big screen, I spotted an old TV set. I was NOT able, at first glance--to tell what kind of set--or if it was a roundie, or rect. But I KNEW I was probably a "keeper"--and if not for me--I figured someone else could find a home for it. So, when we came back about 20 minutes later, I got a GOOD look at the back of the set. I WAS a roundie--and later, I came back for it.
Turned out to be a Zenith 1965 model chassis 24Mc32. It is the "plain jane" cabinet, with legs made into it, I think. ONE little speaker under the Tuners. A pix of one similar is on another thread. The cabinet is NOT bad--but not great.ALL knobs are there--and the door on bottom too. It looks like it got some moisture and there are some bad scratches on top. The CRT does NOT appear to have many--if ANY cataracts--and may NOT be original--as it has a "white tint" and not the "greenish Zenith" look. Other than no back--and a bent-over HO tube--it looks unmolested. It is still in the van right now--with that FLat-panel Samsung next to it. I do NOT really have room for it-- I need to put my CTC-44 and such in my garage anyway as it is--but I could NOT let it get the "Heil treatment" and so--I saved it. I would probably trade it--for something like a CTC-74/81 direct address set. |
