Went and looked at an Admiral
But left it there.
A 16" Admiral showed up on CL "Make Offer" so I called and offered $25, guy had to ask the Wife and she said no less than $40. OK, $40 is still good if the CRT is OK, I need a 16GP4 so maybe I'll luck out, he said I could test it first. Pulled the back off enough to get at the CRT base, first thing I see is a brightener oh well, lets try it anyhow. The CRT was an RCA with a date code that was probably 1955. First off it had a massive H-K short, then it had no cutoff and finally zero emissions. I said thank you and took off. It did have a good control door, though the panel underneath it had a small crack. The rest of the set was pretty mediocre, Barn Fresh (literally, it was in a barn) with torn grille cloth, chipped veneer and the usual mouse eaten speaker. I probably wouldn't have taken it for $20 at this point. |

Eric, I saw that add too and was thinking about calling. Thanks for saving me the trouble.

No problem, they were less than 10 miles from me.

That's too bad. If you see a brightener, generally it;s shot. At least you didn't have to drive to Pacific Palisades or some other long distance.

at the ETV. The 16AP4 had a Brightner on it and tested brick dead on my Sencore CR70. But, I rejuvenated it and it now works pretty good. The focus is not 100% but it has plenty of brightness. Be interesting if someone tried to rejuvenate that CRT with a CR70. Carl
