Post Desperately need spkr Admiral tv

It's for a 20X122 bakelite console. I'll take it even if the cone is shot. I need good transformer, and, good field coil.
Sams says field coil shold be 85 ohms.
The two Admiral spkrs. I have aree way too high.
I already rebuilt chassis, and, got it playing before I realized my mistake.
Please help, guys!

Please help, guys.
I have set playing, but, need the speaker.

You might have to use a Motorola speaker with a field coil. Most of those were around 85 ohms. Motorola used an output transformer mounted on the chassis, so you have to mount one on the speaker.

Why not substitute a PM speaker, and an 85 ohm power resistor for the field coil, for the time being. Then you can install the correct speaker when one comes along. The output transformer is not very critical, it'll either be about a 5000 ohm primary impedance if the TV has a power transformer, or a 2500ish primary impedance if it doesn't. Can grab one out of any junk tube tv, and epoxy it to the frame of the speaker.

You could use a choke coil in place of the speaker field coil. Only thing is to figure out what inductance choke coil to use.

If you use a resistor with the same resistance as the speaker field, the worst thing that will happen is you have a bit less filtering in the power supply. All voltage levels will be correct and circuit should operate fine.

I wouldn't worry too much about tthe inductance of the field, ignoring it hasn't given me problems with radios or a movie projector amplifier, but truthfully have not tried a TV. Although I haven't had a problem practically, if you do it may be easier & cheaper to put a larger capacitor on the downstream end of the resistor (so you don't overload the rectifier tube) rather than invest in a likely custom choke. My money though says that an 85-100 ohm resistor will work just fine - just make sure it's high enough wattage (10 watts would be a safe choice, just make sure to mount it in an area it's a couple inches from anything heat sensitive).

ON that site, they only sell new speakers. Not antique.
My other concern is this..........
These speakers are Admiral spkers. The sams is for a combination set, and, has pm speakers.
They calim 85 ohm on that choke.
I connected the 669 ohm speaker for the heck of it. It's not fixed, but, focus wasn't as bad, hv was a little higher, and, had more volumc.
However, it now has agc problems.
Votage is noticebly higher, close, but, no c gar.
Does anyone have the Riders on this set?
I want to know what changes there are betwen the sets. I want the exact schematic on this set, and, would like to also know what field resistance they say this set uses. Can anybody mail me a pdf of the complted informatio on this set from Riders?
Thanks.

O.K. Tell me this, if you can guys.. Has anybody got one of these sets with the 20X1 chassis with the original field coil speaker? Would you please do me the favor of measuring the resistance of the field coil? I would greatly appreciated that. It's not that I refuse to use a resistor. I am just seening enough differences that I am not sure what resistance to use.
Thanks.

Bill, I pulled out an original Admiral speaker and measured 104 ohms across the field coil. Hope that helps.
