Not to poke fun, but.....
I'm sure this guy thinks this is a reasonable price, but if he gets $850 Buy-It-Now, we're all millionaires! Last one I sold I got $60 in MUCH nicer shape than that one, and mine had the right knobs too.

A friend of mine recently eBayed one of these he'd fully restored with a beautiful, sharp picture almost beyond what you'd think it was capable of. Brought less than $200.

There is someone selling a restored Crosley suitcase portable for a similar amount. It went unbid the past two times so the price has been lowered to $650 or so. People think because something is old it must be worth a fortune.

I've seen these kind of auctions. The price for parts is pretty cheap, as most of the time the biggest cost is the capacitors. I suppose people do think that because it's old it'll bring in a lot. I saw a guy selling an RCA U70 UHF converter for $75 on ebay, infact it goes off in two days or so. I got mine for $20 shipped. The big sellers are the rare and/or popular sets, like RCA's, Dumont Soverign, etc.

Hmm... not only are those not the right knobs, they look like they came off a couple of Newcomb school record players... But, all that aside, they do match pretty well.

Actually, if anybody needs, those exact knobs can be had at All Electronics Surplus in Los Angeles @ 10 for $1.... I bought a few for a Curtis Mathes B&W combo a couple years ago. They are fine for a lot of old equipment with the knurled split full round shaft.

The price people are asking for TV's on eBay these days is outrageous. |
