While it is called resilvering, it is actually aluminum, which is evaporated onto the surface of the mirror by heating an aluminum pellet in a vacuum chamber, much the way CRTs are aluminized.
I have also used Clausing some years ago, but found Spectrum Coating to be less expensive.
